My story
A craft handed down at home
My name is Luca Sciurti, and I have loved the piano since I was a child. Film scores are my great passion, and I still play and compose them.
The craft of tuning and repairing pianos was handed down to me by my father Luigi Sciurti and my uncle Giuseppe Sciurti, both well known on the Italian and international scene. Over the years they worked with institutions such as Teatro alla Scala, the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, Teatro Arcimboldi, Teatro Dal Verme, Fazioli Pianoforti, the Salle Pleyel in Paris and many other musical organisations.

Where I learnt
In my uncle Giuseppe’s workshop
I learnt the craft from him, over time, one piano after another. It was my uncle Giuseppe who taught me to tune, and my pursuit of excellence in every job comes from him. Later, in Hamburg, I completed my training with the concert technicians’ seminar at the Steinway & Sons Academy.
I took part in the Steinway & Sons Academy, C.F. Theodore Steinway School for Concert Technicians: an advanced training programme reserved for selected European technicians, devoted to the action, regulation, tuning and voicing of Steinway & Sons grand pianos. The course was held at the historic Hamburg factory. The certificate is shown here.

From theatres to private homes
Juhl Sørensen A/S
I work as a tuner and technician for Juhl Sørensen A/S, the Steinway distributor for the Nordic countries.
Theatres and concert halls
I prepare and maintain instruments for theatres, halls, recording studios and radio and television productions.
Private homes
The greater part of my work. Uprights and grands, all over Milan, with the same care I bring to the concert hall.
